Immortal's Holocaust: Part 11:
The barge- the next morning

Cat sat up in bed gasping for her breath and saw Methos, Joe and Mary sitting around her. "What happened? I thought I was a goner? Where's Meg?"

"You won't have to worry about Tommy or the war anymore." Methos said as he sat down next to her. Joe and Mary left the room. "It's all over"

"Where's Meg? Is she ok?"

A tear rolled down his cheek as he shook his head. "She ran back into the fight, shot you, and then tried to save you by blocking Tommy's swing."

"How? She didn't have a sword." Methos sat quietly.

"Oh my god! Not Meg." Methos nodded. "But what happened to Tommy?"

"I got to him before Meg's Quickening did."

Cat started to cry. She always knew from the moment she first met Meg when she was three years old, that she would one day be Immortal. Now she had given that up for the person she had admired the most. Methos held Cat tightly, letting it all escape.

"It's all my fault." She said once the tears had stopped coming. "I should have never left the Safe Haven. Meg would still be here if I had just beaten my ego once."

"Don't talk like that, you know we don't know what will happen. It's nobody's fault. It just happened. It's all part of the Game."

"Screw the damn Game. I don't want any part of it anymore!"

"Cat?" Mary asked walking towards them. "Please don't talk like that. Megs wouldn't have wanted you to say that. She always had you picked to be the one in the end. She never lost faith in you. She once told me if she ever became Immortal, she wanted to be just like you."

"Mary I am so sorry." Cat said as she motioned with her hands for Mary to come sit with her on the bed. "I know Meg was you're best friend. She was mine too."

"I'll never forget her, she'll always be a part of me. You always said we were like Siamese Twins separated at birth."

Cat managed a smile as she remembered the day she said that. It was their 16th birthday, which was on the same day, and they had wanted everything the exact same way, even down to the color of their underwear.

"Mary?" Joe said limping out of the kitchen. "Let's leave the two of them alone to work things out."

Mary nodded and got up. Cat pulled her back and hugged her. Mary held on tight, until she felt Cat start to tickle her. "I'll see you back home?" Cat nodded and hugged Joe good-bye and Mary one last time.

When they had left, Cat laid back down on the bed. "Meaty?"

"Yes?"

"Thank you. Thank you for everything. I owe you."

"No you don't. You would've done the same for me."

"I want to repay you for what you did for me. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you and Meg."

"You don't have to repay me Cat. Honest."

"Yes I do." She said as he pulled him close to her. She kissed him on the lips, and held him. "I love you."

"I love you too."
