Immortal's Holocaust: Part 8:
The barge- A few days later

During the next few days, Cat had gone out of her way to avoid Methos. The image of Tommy kneeling on the ground with fear of loosing his head, was still vivid in her mind. But not as vivid as Meaty's kiss. They had been friends for so long, but until that kiss, as rough and as hard as it was, Cat realized her feelings for him were more serious than she thought.

"Cat?" Methos said walking up behind her. They were standing on top of the barge, and it was a beautiful sunny day out. Cat didn't even look at him. "Caitlynn, please talk to me. It's been three days since we've talked."

"I have nothing to say to you." She said gazing out at the water.

"At least let me explain..."

"I've told you, I don't want to hear your explanations."

"Damn it Cat!" he said turning her to face him. "Don't you see how much it's upsetting me to know that I hurt you. I was only trying to protect you."

"I don't need your protecting." She said. She suddenly had the urge to push him overboard. "And I don't want to hear anymore of you're bullshit!"

Methos looked at Cat's eyes, and saw her pain. He had the sudden urge to kiss her again and make the pain go away. He was about to act on his urge, when he heard Mary yelling from somewhere.

"Cat! Methos! Help me!" she said as she ran down the docks and up the barge. "It's Meg." She said between gasps.

"Calm down," Methos said looking at her.

"What happened?" Cat asked. "Is she ok? Where is she?"

"I'm not sure. I was called to the headquarters in Lyon, and when I got back she was gone. Then about an hour ago, I got a call saying if Meg was to stay alive, I would send an Immortal after her. I don't know what to do. Meg's my best friend, and I don't want to loose her like I have with Duncan and Chris. I can't loose anyone else."

"I'll go." Methos said looking to see what kind of reaction it would get out of Cat.

"No, Meg's my Watcher, so I'll go. It's my fault she's in this mess, and it's my responsibility to help get her out of it."

"We'll both go then."

"No, this is my battle and you can't interfere."

"Damn it Cat, you don't know what you're up against. It could be a trap."

Cat was about to say something, but Mary interrupted her. "Will you two leave your damn raging hormones out of this and help me! I don't care which one of you goes, or if they hold the Gathering there to help free her, but she needs our help." Mary started to cry, and Cat hugged her. Methos joined in, putting his arms around both Mary and Cat. Cat just stayed still.

"What do they want us to do?" Methos asked.

"They said to wait and they'd get in touch. Is she going to be ok?" Mary answered wiping her eyes.

"She's going to be fine, don't worry. Go inside and freshen up. Me and Methos need to talk about what we're going to do." She looked at Methos and he smiled at her. Mary nodded and walked into the barge.

"Do you think they know?" Methos said as Cat hopped up and sat on the railing.

"I doubt it. We never know until it happens."

"Hopefully it won't happen soon. She's too young."

"And I wasn't? Look at me Meaty, I'm trapped in the body of a fifteen year old."

He smiled as she called him Meaty. He knew she had forgiven him, at least for the time being. "What are we going to do?"

"I think I might now someone who can help, but you have to promise me not to get mad."

"I can't promise you that."

"Promise me, or I won't tell you."

"Ok, I promise. But that doesn't mean I'll like it."

"Tommy talked about how he died his first death..."

"I knew I wasn't going to like this."

She placed her finger to his lips. "Do you remember my nightmares?" he nodded. How could he forget, she still woke him up at night. "Well, they're true. Tommy was at one of those places, and I think that may be where they've taken Meg."

"So what do you want to do? Hop back into bed to get him to tell you where she is?" Cat looked stunned for a moment, and then slapped Methos across the face.

"You damn piece of shit." She said as she hopped off the railing. "You are the most egotistical bastard I have ever met." She started to turn away, but Methos grabbed her by the arm forcing her to turn around and look him in the face.

"Only because I love you." There he said it. He said it louder than he had wanted to, and it wasn't how he had planned to, but it just slipped out. Cat stood there silent for a moment and breathed a sigh of relief. It had finally been said. Someone finally admitted it. "I can't stand the thought of you being with another man, and it tears me up to think you would trust Tommy enough to let him help us."

"I didn't say I was going to ask him to help us find her, I was just going to pry around and get details. Who knows, he was a pre-Immie when he was there, maybe Meg is there as well."

"Do you think we should tell Mary?"

"Not yet. Let's know what we're dealing with first. If we have to, I'll tell her."

Meg walked out of the barge and looked at the two. Methos still had a firm grasp on Cat's arm. "Tell me what?"

Cat thought of an excuse and then said, "We want you to stay here. We don't know what were dealing with here, and I don't want to risk the chance of anything happening to you."

"Ok. And Methos?"

"Yes Mary?"

"It took you long enough to tell her you loved her."

Cat and Methos laughed, and Cat kissed him on the lips. "That is true, Mary. So true." Cat said.
