Memories out of Ashes: Part 4:

Lisa pulled back from the embrace and slapped him across the face. She stood up from the bed, still naked, and grabbed Duncans' katana. "You son of a fucking bitch!" She hollered as she went after him.

Methos stood and reached under his coat for his sword in time to block a blow that would have severed his sword arm at the shoulder. "Elista, stop. Let's talk about this."

"There's nothing to talk about!" she said as she went for him again.

Duncan more than confused, stepped between the two. "What in the hell is going on here?"

"Duncan, this is Elista."

"And that asshole is/was my *dead* husband, Manduz!"

Now it was Duncan's turn to be shocked and mad. He had heard Lisa telling Tessa about a husband she had lost many centuries before but what made him mad was the fact when Methos started talking about trying to search for Elista, he left out one important detail. "You're Manduz!?" he snapped. "Why didn't you tell us?"

"I... I..." for once he was at a loss for words.

"What? No witty excuse?"

"Mac look, I..."

"I'm going for a walk." Lisa said putting on her clothes. "I'll call you later, Duncan."

Methos and Duncan watched her walk out the door. Methos sat down on the couch and Mac went to get a beer out of the fridge. He threw it at Methos "Ok talk."

Methos sighed as he opened his beer. "I really didn't know how'd I react if I found her. My God she's still alive." He said shaking his head in disbelief.

"Why'd you do it? Why didn't you let her know you were alive?"

Methos looked at his beer, swirled it around in the bottle, and sighed. "I was in love with someone else. I thought faking my death would be the easy way out so I could marry the other woman."

Duncan shook his head. This was beyond the Methos he knew. The Methos that dropped everything to spend the last 6 months of a woman's life traveling with her. The Methos that helped him through the dark quickening while he should have been at the hospital with Alexa. The Methos that always thought of others before himself. "Why didn't you try to find her sooner?"

"I had no idea she was one of us. When I saw Alexa's earrings, I was ashamed for what I had done. It was a part of my life that for years had blocked from my mind, only to be triggered by something."

Duncan shook his head. "She told me Darius explained to her what she was and trained her before she died her first death. How could he know it and not you!" He yelled at the older Immortal. "How could you do it? No wonder she went for your head."

Methos knew better than to cross MacLeod when he was this angry. "I don't know. Hell Mac, I raised her from the time she was 13 until the time I married her. Maybe I just didn't notice."

"If you didn't love her, then why did you marry her?"

"No, I did love her. I loved her like she was my sister, but she was an orphan."

Duncan shot him a look that said 'That should have been a clue.'

"Her father took her in, but the entire town knew she was an orphaned and no one would marry her. Since I was his right hand man, I had to do as he told me. I loved her like a little sister, but I was never in love with her. I assumed she felt the same way."

Duncan sighed. "So what are you going to do now?"

"If she won't go after my head, I'll try to talk to her."

"If I were you, I'd keep my sword handy."

"Do you know where I can find her?" Duncan shook his head. "When you talk to her, tell her I want to see her. Tell her to come to my place."

Two days later as Adam was sitting down to eat, he felt the buzz. Taking his sword to the door, he looked out his peephole and saw Lisa walking up the stairs. He greeted her with I smile. "Do I need this?" he said showing he was ready to protect himself if need be.

Lisa opened her trenchcoat to reveal not only was she unarmed, but a very revealing lavender dress. "Duncan said you wanted to talk to me."

He gestured for her to enter and took her coat. "I was just sitting down to dinner, are you hungry?"

"Did you do the cooking?" she said as she sat down at the table. "You never were a good cook."

Adam chuckled. "I assure you my cooking has improved in the last millennia." He said as he put a plate of Lasagna in front of her.

Elista picked at her food while Adam ate. After a long uncomfortable silence, she finally spoke. "I wanted to apologize for the other day. My temper has always gotten the worst of me."

"You have every right to be upset." He said taking a sip of his beer.

"No, I didn't. I've known quite some time that you were still alive."

Methos spit out his beer and looked at her dumbfounded. "You did?"

"Darius told e a few years ago. I was so furious, but then he told me why you did it and for some reason I understood. I was pissed as hell, but I understood."

"I'm sorry. I know what I did was wrong and I hope one day you can forgive me."

"Spending as much time as I have in convents, forgiveness is the one vow that came easy for me. I forgave you long ago, but the one thing I never understood is why you didn't try to find me."

"I had no idea you were going to be Immortal. Then something happened and I began to understand, so I started to look into it."

"What happened?"

Methos went on to explain about Alexa and the earrings. "I knew those earrings had to have been made by you. No one else could make the design so perfect."

"The braid of roses." She said as a smile escaped her lips for the first time since she got there. "You know, I still have your old sword somewhere."

"Look, I..." he started.

"It's in the past now. It was over 1900 years ago. Let's start over. New beginings. I'm not one to hold a grudge."

Methos smiled. "No you weren't." The CD player changed CD's and a slow song came on. "Do you want to dance?" he said as he stood up and held out his hand.

"I don't know how. You seem to forget, I've spent the past 500 years as a nun. Dancing was not allowed." She said as she stood up.

"Neither was sex, but yet I found you in bed with MacLeod."

"What me and Duncan share is friendship. We've had a physical attraction for each other for a while."

"Can I ask you something personal?" he said as he led her by the window where there was enough room to dance.

"I promise you, if you promise me, not to keep any secrets. Anything you want to know, I'll tell you."

"Did you and Darius ever..." he said as he wrapped his arms around her waist and started swaying.

"No. When Darius took me in after you left, he watched over me. He trained me and showed me how to survive. He was strict with me, more like a father than my own. The only reason the did that was he felt like he had too."

"So the other night was your first time?"

She pulled back some and smiled. "Now you are getting a bit personal. No, Duncan was not my first. Times do change you know. I was married a few times, but to mortals. I figured loosing a mortal was easier than going through the pain of loosing you again."

"I never realized you felt that way about me. I always thought that..."

"It doesn't matter anymore. Let's just enjoy each other now. Forget about everything else."

Methos pulled back and smiled. He walked to the door and walked outside shutting it behind him. Elista stood there confused and laughed when the doorbell rang. She crossed the room and opened the door. "Hi, I'm Methos, the Oldest Living Immortal, but my friends call me Adam. Adam Peirson."

Elista tried to hide her laughter but couldn't. "Well Adam, may I call you Adam? I'm Elista, but my friends call me either Lisa or Lees."

"Well Lisa, may I call you Lisa?" she nodded. "Nice to meet you." He said as he shook her hand. "May I come in?"

"Sure, it's your place after all." She said grinning. She couldn't believe he was doing this.

"I guess so." He pulled her into a hug. "Now, we've completely started over, no pasts. It's just us and now with the future ahead of us."

"To the future." She said as she kissed him.
