After the Fire: Epiloque:

The shore of Kellalie, Ireland

Mary fidgeted as Cat put in the last of the hairpins and Bray was looking out the window to the side of the yard of hers' and Richies' house. It was a warm June day in Ireland, and the weather for once was perfect for a wedding. "Ouch!" Mary shouted.

"If you'd stop moving I wouldn't hit your head." Cat said with a smile.

Bray walked over from the window, "Chance looks more nervous than Richie did on our wedding day."

Mary caught Brays' eyes in the mirror, "Did you feel sick right before you got married?"

"I threw up all the way to the aisle." Marys' nose wrinkled with the words.

"Sure that's not morning sickness you're feeling?" Cats asked as everyone laughed.

Mary playfully stuck her tongue out at her Maid of Honor and took a deep breath. "I wish Uncle Duncan and Megs could be here." She said as a tear started to roll down her cheek.

"They are here in our hearts, and that's all that matters." Cat said as she hugged her. Mary nodded and tried to wipe her tears away. "Now don't go crying, it took me forever to do your make up."

"Well, it looks like everyone else is ready. Are you?" Bray asked.

Mary took a deep breath and answered, "As ready as I'll ever be."

Cat grabbed the bouquet and handed it to Mary, "Here we go." They started down the back steps and out into the garden where they met up with Richie, Lane, Methos, Leigh, and Jimmy, who was honored to give away his favorite goddaughter. Then they took their places. Lane, the flower girl was being escorted by Cat, then it was Bray and Richie, then Leigh and Methos, and finally Jimmy and Mary. Cat, holding Lanes' hand to keep her still, gave Joe a wave to signal the line was ready.

Joe, who was officiating the wedding, turned to the left and signaled the musicians. The pipes moaned to a start and there was no turning back. Cat counted her time and started down the aisle with Lane who tossed rose petals at the people she passed. Richie and Bray followed them with Methos and Leigh behind them. The pipes paused a moment as Jimmy and Mary got ready to walk. They took the first step and the pipes chimed in with more force than before. Chances' face was as bright as the sun it'self as he watched Mary. Little Lane, her basket hanging from her elbow, had her fingers in her ears. Marie, Anne, all Marys' godmothers, and even Marys' step father beamed from the front row and all the other guests were smiling.

Chance took one look at Mary and smiled. She was gorgeous in her mother's wedding dress. It was long with short sleeves, and had translucent sequins all over the bodice. Her hair had been braided in the way her first assignment, Chris, had often worn it, and the sun shone on the necklace he had given her as a birthday present. He could feel the butterflies in his stomach and prayed he didn't get sick.

His best man, Matt who had become Cats' watcher as well as more, smiled a reassuring look. "She's beautiful." He said.

"Don't go getting any ideas, she's mine, and you have Cat now." Chance said as they both smiled and as Jimmy and Mary reached them. Jimmy raised Marys' veil, kissed her on the cheek, and gave her hand to Chance.

Mary kissed her godfather back and took a deep breath. "I guess it's too late to back out now."

Chance let out a soft laugh and squeezed her hand. "I've got you now, and I'm never letting you go." He said as they turned to Joe.
